DR AFAQ BABI (PRINCIPAL DENTIST)
Dr Afaq Babi did his initial schooling in Pakistan and completed his Bachelors of Dental Surgery degree in 2006. He then undertook a Postgraduate Course in Clinical Dentistry at University of Melbourne, which he completed with distinction in 2009. The following year he completed all the 3 stages of the Australian Dental Council Exam in first attempts. Since then Dr. Babi has worked extensively through out rural and metropolitan practices in Australia, including Melbourne, Nowra, Maitland, Newcastle and Sydney and has been exposed to all aspects of general and surgical dentistry.
In 2014 while working at Westmead Hospital in Sydney, Dr. Babi Undertook a research in the field of Cell biology and periodontology (gum disease) investigating the effects of bacteria and its interaction with the gum tissue. During his time at Westmead Hospital he was involved with clinical teaching at University of Sydney, faculty of dentistry where he supervised students in Departments of Oral Surgery as well as Periodontology at the Sydney Dental Hospital as well as Westmead Hospital.
Dr. Babi is a strong believer that continuing professional development is a corner stone of providing the best possible care to his patients. He believes that one can never stop learning and the knowledge gained, ultimately benefits not only the practitioner but more so our patients. He has undertaken multiple clinical courses in restorative, aesthetic and surgical dentistry. He has also embarked upon the fellowship examination of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and has successfully completed the first step of this fellowship.
This on-going dedication to continuing education has seen him travel to the USA and spending time at the University of Texas Health Sciences Centre at San Antonio as well as at the University of Alabama where he learned skills in implant dentistry as well as soft tissue surgery of the oral cavity. Currently he is undertaking the prestigious postgraduate Diploma in Implant Dentistry at University of Sydney. He shares his knowledge and experience, with all patients to help them understand their oral health issues and enhance the overall experience for everyone. He believes in the importance of educating his patients to enable them to achieve long-term good oral health.
Dr. Babi has a caring attitude towards all his patients and believes in providing the best possible quality of care. He is competent in all aspects of dentistry with special interest dental implants, wisdom teeth removal and cosmetic dentistry. He likes to explain the treatment plan and options to his patients so they have a better understanding of the procedure and more control over their treatment. He believes that involving patients in their own treatment makes their dental experience more delightful.
As a proponent of pain free dentistry, Dr Babi focuses on reliving the anxiety and dental phobia that patients feel by offering not only sedation options, Painless computerized injections but also treatment under General anaesthetic. He is very gentle and kind and has an ethos of personalised patient care.
Dr. Babi is a member of many dental associations including Australian dental Association, Australian Osseointegration Society, Australian Society of Periodontology, International team for Implantology, International Congress of Oral Implantologists, Academy of Microscope assisted Dentistry. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Babi loves to spend time with family and camping. He is an avid Off-road enthusiast and goes out to off-road trails with friends and family.
